Our extracurricular program offers a wide variety of clubs for students to join. Please encourage your child to get involved in at least one club and/or sports team this year! Below is a list of the extracurricular club offerings at the Middle School along with a brief description of each. Club meeting dates will be announced on our morning announcements as well as posted on the Middle School website.

 

  • Jazz Band - Musical group for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The club meets twice a week in the morning before school and performs Jazz-related music twice a year at our Winter and Spring Concerts.

  • School Store - Students in 5th and 6th grade meet in the morning on Tuesday and/or Thursday to prepare the store to be opened for business during lunch periods.

  • 5th and 6th Grade Chorus - Musical group for students in 5th and 6th grade. The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.

  • Green/Garden Club - An environmentally friendly club that is responsible for several garden beds at the school.

  • National Junior Honor Society - A club exclusively for 7th and 8th grade students. Students apply for membership in the spring of their 7th grade year; membership is based upon academics, extra-curricular participation, and community service.

  • Badminton Club - Students learn about the sport of badminton and become familiar with the rules of play. This club is open to all grade and skill levels. Racquets will be provided. The club will begin at the end of March to supplement the physical education curriculum and will meet 3 days a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) in the gym before school at 7:30 A.M.

  • Art Club - A club designed to involve students who have interest in areas of painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry making, and crafts. Students will also have the opportunity to work together on projects for their community and school. The club is open to 7th and 8th grade students and meets Thursdays after school.

  • Ukulele Club - A music-oriented club for those who are interested in playing Ukulele. Students in grades 6-8 of all ability levels are invited to join. Students will be given the opportunity to learn songs from various genres (rock ,pop, r&b, country, etc.) and to perform for others. Ukulele's will be provided. The club meets on Wednesdays.

  • Sketchbook Club - An art-centered club for 5th grade students. Students will be involved in designing and creating their own sketchbooks.

  • Interact Club - A community service-oriented club that is sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Moriches. The club is open to all community minded students, grades 5 through 8, who are interested in getting involved in local events and international charities and who are dedicated to serving others who may be less fortunate. The club meets every Monday after school.

  • Homework Club - The homework club is open to all students and meets after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. The homework club gives students a space to work on homework/projects, read, and more.

  • Science Club - A club open to students in 5th and 6th grade. Students will explore exciting scientific phenomena from events that occur in their everyday lives. After exploring demonstrations, students will create and perform their own hands-on projects.

  • History League - Students compete in a history-related quiz show format. Club members enjoy learning about history and demonstrating their knowledge to peers and faculty.
